TRAILER TOWING
Warranty Requirements
In this section you will find safety tips and inform ation
on limits to the typ e of tow ing you can reasonably do
with you r vehicle. Before tow ing a trailer carefu lly re-
view this inform ation to tow you r load as efficiently and
safely as possible.
The Manu factu rer’s Passenger Vehicle Warranty will
apply to vehicles used to tow trailers for non-com mercial
use. However the follow ing cond itions must be met:

The maxim um frontal area of the trailer cannot exceed

To maintain warranty coverage, follow the requ irem ents
and recom mend ations in this manu al concerning ve-
hicles used for trailer tow ing.
The trailer tongu e load must be consid ered as part of
the combined weight of occupants and cargo, and
shou ld never exceed the weight referenced on the Tire 5
Perform maintenance services as prescribed in the main-
tenance sched ules manu al. When you r vehicle is used for
trailer tow ing, never exceed the gross axle weight rating
(GAWR) by the addition of:
and Load ing Inform ation placard . Refer to the Tire–
Safety Inform ation Section in this manu al.

The “D” range can be selected when tow ing. However,
if frequ ent shifting occurs while in this range, the “3”
range must be selected .

The tongu e weight of the trailer.
The weight of any other typ e of cargo or equ ipment
put in or on you r vehicle.
NOTE: Using the “3” range while operating the vehicle
und er heavy operating cond itions will improve perfor-
mance and extend transm ission life by red ucing exces-
sive shifting and heat build up.

Remember that everything put in or on the trailer adds
to the load on you r vehicle.
