Adding Coolan t
coolant pressu re cap shou ld be insp ected and cleaned if
there is any accumulation of foreign material on the
sealing surfaces.
When adding coolant, or refilling the system , a minim um
of 50% solu tion of ethylene glycol antifreeze coolant in
water shou ld be used . Higher concentrations (not to
exceed 70%) are requ ired if tem peratu res below Ϫ34°F
WARN ING!
(Ϫ37°C) are anticip ated .
•
The warn ing word s “DO NOT OPEN HOT” on
the coolan t pressu re cap are a safety precau tion .
Never add coolan t to the coolin g system when the
engin e is overh eated . Do not loosen or rem ove the
coolan t pressu re cap to cool an overh eated engin e.
Heat causes pressu re to build up in the coolin g
system . To preven t scald ing or injury, do not
rem ove the coolan t pressu re cap while the system
is hot or under pressu re.
Use only high purity water such as distilled or deionized
water when mixing the water/ antifreeze solu tion. The
use of lower quality water will red uce the amount of
corrosion protection in the engine cooling system .
Please note that it is the owner’s resp onsibility to main-
tain the prop er level of protection against freezing ac-
cord ing to the tem peratu res occurring in the area where
the vehicle is operated .

Do not use a pressu re cap oth er than the one
specified for you r veh icle. Person al injury or
engin e damage may resu lt.
NOTE: Mixing coolant typ es will decrease the life of the
engine coolant and will requ ire more frequ ent coolant
changes.
Coolan t Pressu re Cap
The coolant pressu re cap must be fully tightened to
prevent loss of coolant, and to insu re that coolant will
retu rn to the coolant bottle from the overflow tank. The
