portant to keep the engine prop erly tuned to assu re
prop er catalyst operation and prevent possible catalyst

The air clean er can provid e a measu re of protection
in the case of engin e backfire. Do not rem ove the air
clean er unless such rem oval is necessary for rep air or
main ten ance. Make sure that no one is near the
engin e compartm ent before startin g the veh icle with
the air clean er rem oved . Failu re to do so can resu lt in
seriou s person al injury.

Damage to the catalytic converter can resu lt if you r
veh icle is not kept in prop er operatin g condition . In
the even t of engin e malfu nction , particu larly involv-

Fuel Filter
A plugged fuel filter can cause stalling, limit the speed at
which a vehicle can be driven or cause hard starting.
Shou ld an excessive amount of dirt accumulate in the
fuel tank, filter rep lacem ent may be necessary. See you r
local dealer for service.

Catalytic Converter
The catalytic converter requ ires the use of unlead ed fuel
only. Lead ed gasoline will destroy the effectiveness of the

against you .
