STARTING AND OPERATING
The parking brake shou ld alw ays be applied when the
driver is not in the vehicle.
BRAKE SYSTEM
In the event power assist is lost for any reason (for
exam ple, rep eated brake applications with the engine
off), the brakes will still function. The effort requ ired to
brake the vehicle will be much greater than that requ ired
with the power system operating.

Leavin g child ren in a veh icle unatten ded is dan-
gerou s for a number of reason s. A child or oth ers
could be injured . Child ren should be warn ed not
to tou ch the park ing brak e, brak e pedal or the
gear selector lever. Don’t leave the keys in the
ign ition . A child could operate power windows,
oth er controls, or move the veh icle.
Your vehicle is equ ipped with dual hyd rau lic
brake system s. If either of the two hyd rau lic
system s lose norm al capability, the rem aining
system will still function. There will be som e
loss of overall braking effectiveness. This may be evid ent
by increased pedal travel during application, greater
pedal force requ ired to slow or stop , and potential
activation of the Brake Warning Lamp.
Be sure the park ing brak e is fully disen gaged
before drivin g: failu re to do so can lead to brak e
failu re, and an accid ent.
