If you r OBD system is not read y, you shou ld see you r
authorized dealer or rep air facility. If you r vehicle was
recently serviced or had a battery failu re or rep lacem ent,
you may need to do nothing more than drive you r
vehicle as you norm ally would in ord er for you r OBD
system to update. A recheck with the above test rou tine
may then ind icate that the system is now read y.
DEALER SERVICE
Your dealer has the qualified service personnel, special
tools and equ ipment to perform all service operations in
an expert manner. Service Manu als are available which
inclu de detailed service inform ation for you r vehicle.
Refer to these manu als before attem pting any proced ure
you rself.
NOTE: Intentional tampering with emissions control
system s can result in civil penalties being assessed against
you.
Regard less of whether you r vehicle’s OBD system is
read y or not read y, if the MIL sym bol is illuminated
during norm al vehicle operation, you shou ld have you r
vehicle serviced before going to the I/ M station. The I/ M
station can fail you r vehicle becau se the MIL sym bol is on
with the engine running.

You can be badly injured work ing on or arou nd a

you have the knowled ge and the prop er equipment.
If you have any doubt about you r ability to perform
a service job , tak e you r veh icle to a competen t
mechanic.
REPLACEMENT PARTS
Use of genu ine Mop ar parts for norm al/ sched uled
maintenance and rep airs is highly recom mend ed to in-
sure the designed perform ance. Dam age or failu res
caused by the use of non-Mop ar parts for maintenance
and rep airs will not be covered by the manu factu rer’s
warranty.
