Make sure that the rad iator and coolant bottle hoses
are not kinked or obstru cted .
Pay particu lar attention to those hoses nearest to high
heat sou rces such as the exhau st manifold . Insp ect hose
rou ting to be sure hoses do not come in contact with any
heat sou rce or moving component which may cause heat
damage or mechanical wear.
Keep the front of the rad iator and the front of the A/ C
cond enser clean.
Do not change the therm ostat for summer or winter
operation. If rep lacem ent is ever necessary, install
ONLY the correct typ e therm ostat. Other designs may
resu lt in unsatisfactory cooling perform ance.
Insu re nylon tubing in these areas has not melted or
collap sed .
Insp ect all hose connections such as clamps and cou-
plings to make sure they are secure and no leaks are
present.

Increasing engine speed at idle does not red uce cool-
ant tem peratu re! Put transm ission in NEUTRAL and
let engine idle at norm al engine idle speed .
Com ponents shou ld be rep laced immediately if there is
any evid ence of wear or damage that could cause failu re. 7
Hoses And Vacuum/Vapor Harnesses
Insp ect surfaces of hoses and nylon tubing for evid ence
of heat and mechanical damage. Hard or soft spots,
brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and exces-
sive swelling ind icate deterioration of the rubber.
Brakes
In ord er to assu re brake system perform ance, all brake
system components shou ld be insp ected period ically.
Suggested service intervals can be found in the Mainte-
nance Sched ules section of this manu al.
