Anti-Lock Brake System
WARN ING!
The Anti-Lock Brake System provid es increased vehicle
stability and brake perform ance und er most braking
cond itions. The system autom atically “pumps” the
brakes during severe braking cond itions to prevent
wheel lock-u p.

The electronic brake force distribu tion (EBD) prevents the
rear wheels from over-braking and provid es greater
control of available braking forces applied to the rear
axle.

The ABS cannot preven t accid ents, including
those resu ltin g from excessive speed in turns,
follow ing anoth er veh icle too closely, or hydro-
plan ing. Only a safe, atten tive, and skillfu l driver
can preven t accid ents.

The capabilities of an ABS equipped veh icle must
never be exploited in a reck less or dangerou s
manner which could jeop ard ize the user’s safety
or the safety of oth ers.
Pumping of the Anti-Lock Brak es will diminish
their effectiven ess and may lead to an accid ent.
Pumping makes the stop ping distan ce lon ger. Just
press firm ly on you r brak e pedal when you need to
slow down or stop .
The ABS light monitors the Anti-Lock Brake Sys-
tem . The light will come on when the ignition
switch is turned to the ON position and may stay
on for as long as four second s.
If the ABS light rem ains on or comes on while driving, it
ind icates that the Anti-Lock portion of the brake system
