the instru ment cluster both come on with the key in
the ignition switch turned to the “ON ” position. They
shou ld go out with the engine running. If the BAS/
ESP malfunction ind icator light comes on continu -
ously with the engine running, a malfunction has been
detected in either the BAS or the ESP system . If this
light stays illuminated , have the BAS and ESP checked
at you r authorized dealer as soon as possible.
The dual brake system provid es a reserve braking capac-
ity in the event of a failu re to a portion of the hyd rau lic
system . Failu re of either half of the dual brake system is
ind icated by the Brake Warning Light which will turn on
when the brake fluid level in the master cylind er has
drop ped below a specified level.
The light will rem ain on until the cause is corrected .
NOTE: The light may flash momentarily during sharp
cornering maneu vers which change fluid level cond i-
tions. The vehicle shou ld have service perform ed, and
the brake fluid level checked .

Airba g Light
This light turns on and rem ains on for 6 to 8
second s as a bulb check when the ignition
switch is first turned ON. If the light is not
on during starting, stays on, or turns on

Brake Syst em Warning Light
This light monitors variou s brake functions,
inclu ding brake fluid level and parking
brake application. If the brake light turns on,
it may ind icate that the parking brake is
applied, there is a low brake fluid level or there is a
problem with the anti-lock brake system .
Drivin g a veh icle with the brak e ligh t on is danger-
ous. Part of the brak e system may have failed . It will
tak e lon ger to stop the veh icle. You could have an
accid ent. Have the veh icle checked immediately.
