STARTING PROCEDURES
Normal Starting
Norm al Startin g of either a cold or a warm engine is
obtained withou t pumping or depressing the accelerator
pedal. Turn the key to the “START” position and release
when the engine starts. If the engine has not started
within 3 second s, slightly depress the accelerator pedal
while continu ing to crank. If the engine fails to start
within 15 second s, turn the key to the “OFF” position,
wprocedait 10ure.to 15 second s, then rep eat the norm al starting 5
CAUTIO N!
Long period s of engin e idlin g, esp ecially at high
engin e speed s, can cause excessive exhaust tem pera-
tures which can damage you r veh icle. Do not leave
you r veh icle unatten ded with the engin e running.
WARN ING!
Extrem ely Cold Weath er (below Ϫ20°F or Ϫ29°C) To
insu re reliable starting at these tem peratu res, use of an
externally powered electric engine block heater (available
from you r dealer) is recom mend ed.
Do not leave animals or child ren insid e park ed
veh icles in hot weath er; interior heat build up may
cause seriou s injury or death .
The gear selector must be in the NEUTRAL or PARK
position before you can start the engine. Apply the brakes
before shifting into any driving gear.
