Remove the lug nu ts, wheel cover (if equ ipped) and

A loose tire or jack throw n forw ard in a collision or
hard stop could endanger the occupants of the ve-
hicle. Alw ays stow the jack parts and the spare tire in
the places provid ed.

Mou nt the spare tire. For vehicles equ ipped with
wheel covers, see the wheel cover installation instru c-
tions. Do not attem pt to install a wheel cover on a
compact spare.

Tighten all the lug nu ts on the mounting stu ds.

Lower the vehicle to the grou nd by turning the jack
The compact spare tire is for tem porary emergency use
with rad ial tires. It is engineered to be used on you r style
vehicle only. Since this tire has limited tread life, the
original tire shou ld be rep aired (or rep laced ) and rein-
stalled at the first opportu nity.

Fully tighten the lug nu ts. Torque the wheel lug nu ts
to 100 ft/ lb. (135N. m).

Avoid driving more than 50 miles (80 km) before
rep lacing tire and wheel.
Raisin g the veh icle high er than necessary can make
the veh icle less stab le. It could slip off the jack and
hurt som eon e near it. Raise the veh icle only enough
to rem ove the tire.
This tire is designed as an emergency spare only-d o
not exceed 50 MPH (80 km/ h) speed .
