STARTING AND OPERATING
Brake/Transmission Interlock Manual Override
Your vehicle may be equ ipped with a shift lock manu al
overrid e. The manu al overrid e may be used in the event
that the shift lever shou ld fail to move from PARK with
the key in the ON position and the brake pedal pressed .
To operate the shift lock manu al overrid e, perform the
follow ing step s:
1.
Turn the key to the ON position but do not start the
engine.
2.
Firmly set the parking brake.
3.
shift lock manu al overrid e cover which is located on the
PRNDL bezel, above the PARK position.
Using a flat-blad ed screw driver, carefu lly rem ove the
Brak e/Tran smission Interlock Manual Overrid e
6.
Press the shifter release button and shift into NEU-
TRAL.
4.
Press and maintain firm pressu re on the brake pedal.
7.
The vehicle may then be started in NEUTRAL.

dealer if the shift lock manu al overrid e has been used .
