To disconnect the stabilizer/ sway bar, shift to either 4H
or 4L (refer to “Fou r-Wheel Drive Operation” in this
section) and press the SWAY BAR switch to obtain the
off-road position. The “Sway Bar Ind icator Light” will
flash until the stabilizer/ sway bar has been fully discon-
nected .
WARN ING!
If the stab ilizer/sw ay bar will not retu rn to on-road
mode, veh icle stab ility is greatly red uced. Do not
attem pt to drive the veh icle over 18 mph (29 km/h).
Drivin g faster than 18 mph (29 km/h) may cause loss
of control of the veh icle, which could resu lt in
seriou s injury. Con tact you r local authorized dealer
for assistan ce.
NOTE: The stabilizer/ sway bar may be torqu e locked
due to left and right suspension height differences. This
cond ition is due to driving surface differences or vehicle

load ing.
In ord er for the stabilizer/ sway bar to
ON-ROAD DRIVING TIPS
disconnect/ reconnect, the right and left halves of the bar
must be aligned . This alignm ent may requ ire that the
vehicle be driven onto level grou nd or rocked from side
to side.
Utility vehicles have higher grou nd clearance and a
narrow er track to make them capable of perform ing in a
wide variety of off-road applications. Specific design
characteristics give them a higher center of gravity than
ord inary cars.
To retu rn to on-road mode, press the SWAY BAR switch
again.
