4H Position
WARN ING!
This range locks the front and rear driveshafts together,
forcing the front and rear wheels to rotate at the sam e
speed . This range (4H) provid es additional traction for
loose, slippery road surfaces and shou ld not be used on
wet or dry pavem ent.
You or oth ers could be injured if you leave the
veh icle unatten ded with the tran sfer case in the N
(Neutral) position with out first fully engagin g the
park ing brak e. The tran sfer case N (Neutral) position
disen gages both the fron t and rear drivesh aft from
the powertrain , and will allow the veh icle to move
regard less of the tran smission position . The park ing
brak e should alw ays be applied when the driver is
not in the veh icle.
The “4WD Ind icator Light” (located in the instru ment
cluster) will illuminate when the transfer case is shifted
into the 4H position.

N (Neutral) Position
This range disengages the front and rear driveshafts from
the powertrain. It is to be used for flat tow ing behind
another vehicle. Refer to “Recreational Towing” in Sec-
tion 5 of this manu al.

2H Position
This range is used for norm al street and highw ay driving
on hard -surfaced road s.
