Gross Trailer Weigh t (GTW)
WARN ING!
The GTW is the weight of the trailer plus the weight of all
cargo, consu mables and equ ipment (perm anent or tem -
porary) load ed in or on the trailer in its Љload ed and
read y for operationЉ cond ition. The recom mend ed way to
measu re GTW is to put you r fully-load ed trailer on a
vehicle scale. The entire weight of the trailer must be
supported by the scale.
It is importan t that you do not exceed the maxim um
fron t or rear GAWR. A dangerou s drivin g condition
can resu lt if eith er ratin g is exceed ed. You could lose
control of the veh icle and have an accid ent.
Trailer Tongue Weigh t (TW)
The trailer tongu e weight is the downw ard force exerted
on the hitch ball by the trailer. In most cases it shou ld not
be less than 10% or more than 15% of the trailer load . You
must consid er this as part of the load on you r vehicle.
Gross Com bination Weigh t Ratin g (GCWR)
The GCWR is the total perm issible weight of you r vehicle
and trailer when weighed in combination.
NOTE: The GCWR rating inclu des a 150 lbs (68 kg)
allow ance for the presence of a driver.
Fron tal Area
The frontal area is the maxim um height and maxim um
width of the front of a trailer.
Gross Axle Weigh t Ratin g (GAWR)
The GAWR is the maxim um capacity of the front and rear
axles. Distribu te the load over the front and rear axles
evenly. Make sure that you do not exceed either front or
rear GAWR.
Trailer Sway Con trol — If Equipped
The trailer sway control is a telescop ing link that can be
installed betw een the hitch receiver and the trailer
