When frequ ent transm ission shifting occurs while using
Overd rive, such as when operating the vehicle und er
heavy load cond itions (for exam ple, in hilly terrain,
strong head wind s, or trailer tow ing), turning off over-
drive will improve perform ance and extend transm ission
life by red ucing excessive shifting and heat buildup.

If the transm ission overheats, a “HOTOIL” message will
be displayed in the odometer and a chim e will sou nd .
Overd rive Off Switch
Overd rive can be locked out by pressing the O/ D OFF
switch located on the center console. The “O/ D OFF
Ind icator Light” (on the switch) will illuminate to show
that the switch has been activated . When the ind icator
light is on, Overd rive is locked out. Pressing the switch a
