STARTING AND OPERATING
speed of the vehicle. When ERM determ ines that the rate
of change of the steering wheel angle and vehicle’s speed
are sufficient to potentially cause wheel lift, it applies the
approp riate brake and may red uce engine power to
lessen the chance that wheel lift will occur. ERM will only
intervene during very severe or evasive driving maneu -
vers.
WARN ING!
Many factors, such as veh icle load ing, road condi-
tion s and drivin g condition s, influ ence the chance
that wheel lift or rollover may occur. Electron ic Roll
Mitigation (ERM) cannot preven t all wheel lift or
rollovers, esp ecially those that involve leavin g the
road way or strik ing objects or oth er veh icles. Only a
safe, atten tive, and skillfu l driver can preven t acci-
dents. The capabilities of an ERM-equipped veh icle
must never be exploited in a reck less or dangerou s
manner which could jeop ard ize the user’s safety or
the safety of oth ers.
Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM) can only red uce the
chance of wheel lift occurring during severe or evasive
driving maneu vers. It cannot prevent wheel lift due to
other factors such as road cond itions, leaving the road -
way or striking objects or other vehicles.
NOTE: Anytim e the ESP system is in the “Full Off”
mode, ERM is disabled . Refer to ESP (Electronic Stability Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
Program ) for a complete explanation of the available ESP
modes.
This system enhances directional control and stability of
the vehicle und er variou s driving cond itions. The ESP
corrects for over/ und er steering of the vehicle by apply-
ing the brake of the approp riate wheel to assist in
