Usin g a Spotter
While driving off-road , you will encou nter many typ es of
terrain. These varying typ es of terrain bring different
typ es of obstacles. Before proceed ing, review the path
ahead to determ ine the correct approach and you r ability
to safely recover the vehicle if som ething goes wrong.
Keeping a firm grip on the steering wheel, bring the
vehicle to a complete stop and then inch the vehicle
There are many times where it is hard to see the obstacle
or determ ine the correct path. Determ ining the correct
path can be extrem ely difficult when you are confronting
many obstacles. In these cases, have som eone guide you
over, throu gh, or arou nd the obstacle. Have the person
stand a safe distance in front of you where they can see
the obstacle, watch you r tires and und ercarriage, and
guide you throu gh.
