STARTING AND OPERATING
ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM
Your vehicle is equ ipped with an advanced electronic
brake control system that inclu des Anti-Lock Brake Sys-
tem (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist
System (BAS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Electronic Roll
Mitigation (ERM), Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and
Trailer Sway Control (TSC). All of these system s work
together to enhance vehicle stability and control in vari-
ous driving cond itions, and are commonly referred to as
ESP.

The Anti-Lock Brak e System is subject to possib le
detrim ental effects of electron ic interferen ce caused
by improp erly installed afterm ark et rad ios or tele-
phones.
Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS)
This system aid s the driver in maintaining vehicle control
und er adverse braking cond itions. The system controls
hyd rau lic brake pressu re to prevent wheel lock-u p and
help avoid skid ding on slippery surfaces during braking.
Refer to “Anti-Lock Brake System ” in Section 5 of this
manu al for more inform ation abou t ABS.
NOTE: During severe braking cond itions, a pulsing
sensation may occur and a clicking noise will be heard .
This is norm al, ind icating that the Anti-Lock Brake
System is functioning.
