Itcanbedangerous  togetoutofthevehicleifthe
shiftleverisnotfullyinP(Park)withtheparking
brakefirmlyset.Thevehiclecanroll.Ifyouhave
lefttheenginerunning,  thevehiclecanmove
suddenly.Youorotherscouldbeinjured.    Tobe
surethevehiclewillnotmove,evenwhenyouare
onfairlylevelground,usethestepsthatfollow.
Ifyouarepullingatrailer,seeTowingaTraileron
page 5‑31.
Itcanbedangerous  toleavethevehiclewiththe
enginerunning. Thevehiclecouldmovesuddenly
iftheshiftleverisnotfullyinP(Park)withthe
parkingbrakefirmlyset.And,ifyouleavethe
vehiclewiththeenginerunning,   itcouldoverheat
andevencatchfire.Youorotherscouldbe
injured. Donotleavethevehiclewiththeengine
running.
ToshiftintoP(Park),usethefollowing    steps:
Ifyouleavethevehiclewiththeenginerunning,     the
vehiclemustbeinP(Park)andtheparkingbrakeset.
Aftershifting intoP(Park),trytomovetheshiftleverout
withoutfirstpushingthebuttonontheshiftlever.Ifyou
can,theshiftleverwasnotfullylockedintoP(Park).

Holdthebrakepedaldown.
MovetheshiftleverintoP(Park)bypressing     the
buttononthefrontoftheshiftleverwhilepushing
theleverallthewaytowardthefrontofthevehicle.
Releasethebutton.

Withyourfootstillholdingthebrakepedaldown,
settheparkingbrake.SeeParkingBrake    on
page 3‑33 formoreinformation.
Turntheignition  off.
