Poorfuelqualitycausestheenginenottorunas
efficiently asdesigned andmaycause:stalling
afterstart-up, stalling whenthevehicleischanged
intogear,misfiring, hesitation onacceleration,
orstumbling onacceleration. Theseconditions
mightgoawayoncetheengineiswarmedup.
Ifthelightcontinues toflash,whenitissafetodoso,
stopthevehicle. Findasafeplacetoparkthevehicle.
Turnofftheignition, waitatleast10seconds,and
restarttheengine.Ifthelightisstillflashing, followthe
previous stepsandseeyourdealer/retailer forservice
assoonaspossible.
LightOnSteady : Anemissioncontrolsystem
malfunction hasbeendetected onthevehicle.
Diagnosis andservicemightberequired.
Ifoneormoreoftheseconditions occurs,change
thefuelbrandused.Itwillrequireatleastonefull
tankoftheproperfueltoturnthelightoff.
Anemission systemmalfunction mightbecorrected by
doingthefollowing:

Ifnoneoftheabovehavemadethelightturnoff,your
dealer/retailer cancheckthevehicle. Thedealer/retailer
hasthepropertestequipment anddiagnostic toolstofix
anymechanical orelectrical problems thatmighthave
developed.

Makesurethefuelcapisfullyinstalled. SeeFilling
theTank on page 6‑9.Thediagnostic system
candetermine ifthefuelcaphasbeenleftoffor
improperly installed. Alooseormissingfuelcap
allowsfueltoevaporate intotheatmosphere. Afew
drivingtripswiththecapproperly installed should
turnthelightoff.

Ifthevehiclehasbeendriventhroughadeep
puddleofwater,thevehicle's electrical system
mightbewet.Thecondition isusuallycorrected
whentheelectrical systemdriesout.Afewdriving
tripsshouldturnthelightoff.
