DaytimeRunningLamps(DRL)
Duringthatdelay,theinstrument   panelclustermay
notbeasbrightasusual.Makesuretheinstrument
panelbrightness leverisinthefullbrightposition.
SeeInstrument PanelBrightness onpage4‑35.
DaytimeRunningLamps(DRL)canmakeiteasierfor
otherstoseethefrontofyourvehicleduringtheday.
Fullyfunctional daytimerunninglampsarerequired   on
allvehicles firstsoldinCanada.
TooperatethevehiclewiththeDRLoff,turntheexterior
lampcontroloffandthendooneofthefollowing:
TheDRLsystemcomesonwhenthefollowing
conditions aremet:

Turntheexterior  lampcontroltotheparkinglamp
position.
.
.
.
Itisstilldaylight  andtheignitionison.
Theautomatic lightsareenabled.
Thetransmission isnotinP(Park).
Turntheexterior  lampcontroltotheheadlamp
position.
Turntheexterior  lampcontrolfromAUTOtooff
andbacktoAUTO.
WhenDRLareon,onlythefrontturnsignallampswill
beon.Nootherexterior   lampswillbeonwhentheDRL
arebeingused.Theinstrument   panelwillnotbelit.
AnAUTOMATICLIGHTSOFFmessagewillappearon
theDIC,showingthatautomatic   lighting hasbeen
disabled. SeeDICWarningsandMessages  on
page 4‑76.
Whentheautomatic  lightsareenabledanditisdark
enoughoutside,theDRLwillturnoffandthelow-beam
headlamps willturnon.Whenitisbrightenough
outside, thelow-beam headlamps willgooff,andthe
DRLwillturnbackon.Ifthevehicleisstartedinadark
garage,theautomatic  headlampsystemcomeson
immediately.Oncethevehicleleavesthegarage,
itwilltakeaboutoneminutefortheautomatic
