Thevehiclehasavehiclestability enhancement system
calledStabiliTrak. Itisanadvanced computercontrolled
systemthatassistswithdirectional controlofthevehicle
indifficult drivingconditions.
BrakeAssist
Ifthevehiclehasall‐wheel‐driveandhasActive
Steering withEnhanced StabiliTrak, seeEnhanced
StabiliTrak®onpage5‑7.
ThisvehiclehasaBrakeAssistfeaturedesigned to
assistthedriverinstopping ordecreasing vehicle
speedinemergency drivingconditions. Thisfeature
usesthestability systemhydraulic brakecontrolmodule
tosupplement thepowerbrakesystemunderconditions
wherethedriverhasquicklyandforcefully appliedthe
brakepedalinanattempttoquicklystoporslowdown
thevehicle. Thestability systemhydraulic brakecontrol
moduleincreases brakepressureateachcornerofthe
vehicleuntiltheABSactivates. Minorbrakepedal
pulsations orpedalmovementduringthistimeisnormal
andthedrivershouldcontinue toapplythebrakepedal
asthedrivingsituation dictates TheBrakeAssist
featurewillautomatically disengage whenthebrake
pedalisreleased orbrakepedalpressure isquickly
decreased.
StabiliTrakactivates whenthecomputer sensesa
discrepancy betweentheintended pathandthe
direction thevehicleisactually traveling. StabiliTrak
selectively appliesbrakingpressureatanyoneofthe
vehicle's brakestohelpsteerthevehicleintheintended
direction.
Whenthesystemactivates, aSTABILITYSYSACTIVE
messagewillbedisplayed ontheDriverInformation
Center(DIC).SeeDICWarningsandMessages on
page 4‑76.Anoisemaybeheardoravibration feltin
thebrakepedal.Thisisnormal.Continue tosteerthe
vehicleintheintended direction.
Ifthereisaproblemdetected withStabiliTrak, a
SERVICESTABILITYSYSmessagewillbedisplayed
ontheDIC.SeeDICWarningsandMessages on
page 4‑76.Whenthismessageisdisplayed, the
systemisnotoperational. Drivingshouldbeadjusted
accordingly.
