Thetongueload(A)ofanytrailerisanimportant weight
tomeasurebecauseitaffectsthetotalgrossweightof
thevehicle. TheGrossVehicleWeight(GVW)includes
thecurbweightofthevehicle, anycargocarriedinit,
andthepeoplewhowillberidinginthevehicle. Ifthere
arealotofoptions,equipment, passengers orcargoin
thevehicle, itwillreducethetongueweightthevehicle
cancarry,whichwillalsoreducethetrailerweightthe
vehiclecantow.Iftowingatrailer,thetongueloadmust
beaddedtotheGVWbecausethevehiclewillbe

muchthevehicleisusedtopullatrailer areall
important. Itcandependonanyspecialequipment on
thevehicle, andtheamountoftongueweightthe

Maximumtrailerweightiscalculated assuming onlythe
driverisinthetowvehicleandithasalltherequired
trailering equipment. Theweightofadditional optional
equipment, passengers andcargointhetowvehicle
mustbesubtracted fromthemaximumtrailerweight.
