Inmanycrashessevereenoughtoinflate    theairbag,
windshields arebrokenbyvehicledeformation.
Additional windshield breakage mayalsooccurfromthe
rightfrontpassenger  airbag.
PassengerSensingSystem
Thevehiclehasapassenger   sensingsystemforthe
rightfrontpassenger  position. Thepassenger airbag
statusindicator willbevisibleontheoverhead   console
whenyoustartthevehicle.

Airbagsaredesigned  toinflateonlyonce.Afteran
airbaginflates, youwillneedsomenewpartsfor
theairbagsystem.Ifyoudonotgetthem,the
airbagsystemwillnotbetheretohelpprotectyou
inanothercrash.Anewsystemwillincludeairbag
modulesandpossibly  otherparts.Theservice
manualforyourvehiclecoverstheneedtoreplace
otherparts.

modulewhichrecordsinformation  afteracrash.

ThewordsONandOFF,orthesymbolforonandoff,
willbevisibleduringthesystemcheck.Ifyouareusing
remotestarttostartyourvehiclefromadistance,
ifequipped, youmaynotseethesystemcheck.When
thesystemcheckiscomplete,   eitherthewordONor
thewordOFF,orthesymbolforonorthesymbolforoff,
willbevisible.  SeePassenger AirbagStatusIndicator
on page 4‑55.
Letonlyqualified  technicians workontheairbag
systems.Improper servicecanmeanthatan
airbagsystemwillnotworkproperly.Seeyour
dealer/retailer forservice.
