Whilerefueling, hangthetethered  fuelcapfromthe
hookonthefueldoor.
Whenreplacing thefuelcap,turnitclockwise   untilit
clicks.Makesurethecapisfullyinstalled.    The
diagnostic systemcandetermine ifthefuelcaphas
beenleftofforimproperly   installed. Thiswouldallow
fueltoevaporate  intotheatmosphere. SeeMalfunction
Indicator Lamponpage4‑62.
{WARNING:
Fuelcansprayoutonyouifyouopenthefuelcap
tooquickly.Ifyouspillfuelandthensomething
ignitesit,youcouldbebadlyburned.Thisspray
canhappenifthetankisnearlyfull,andismore
likelyinhotweather.Openthefuelcapslowlyand
waitforanyhissnoisetostop.Thenunscrewthe
capalltheway.
TheCHECKGASCAPmessagewillappearonthe
DriverInformation Center(DIC)displayifthefuelcapis
notreinstalled properly.SeeDICWarningsand
Messages on page 4‑76 formoreinformation.
Becarefulnottospillfuel.Donottopofforoverfill      the
tank,andwaitafewsecondsafteryouhavefinished
pumpingbeforeremoving  thenozzle.Cleanfuelfrom
paintedsurfaces assoonaspossible.  SeeWashing
