IfyoustillareunabletoshiftoutofP(Park):
Fullyreleasetheshiftleverbutton.
1.
Torquelockiswhentheweightofthevehicleputstoo
muchforceontheparkingpawlinthetransmission.
Thishappenswhenparkingonahillandshifting     the
transmission intoP(Park)isnotdoneproperly   andthen
itisdifficult  toshiftoutofP(Park).Topreventtorque
lock,settheparkingbrakeandthenshiftintoP(Park).
Tofindouthow,see“Shifting   IntoP(Park)”listed
previously.
2. Whileholdingdownthebrakepedal,presstheshift
leverbuttonagain.
3.
Movetheshiftlevertothedesiredposition.
IfyoustillcannotmovetheshiftleverfromP(Park),
consultyourdealer/retailer  oraprofessional towing
service.
Iftorquelockdoesoccur,yourvehiclemayneedtobe
pusheduphillbyanothervehicletorelievetheparking
pawlpressure, soyoucanshiftoutofP(Park).
ParkingOverThingsThatBurn
{WARNING:
ShiftingOutofPark
Shiftlockreleaseprevents  shifting outofP(Park)
unlessthevehicleisrunningorinAccessory    modeand
thebrakepedalisapplied.
Thingsthatcanburncouldtouchhotexhaust
partsunderthevehicleandignite.   Donotpark
overpapers,leaves,drygrass,orotherthingsthat
canburn.
Theshiftlockreleaseisalwaysfunctional    exceptinthe
caseofanuncharged  orlowvoltage(lessthan9‐volt)
battery.SeeJumpStarting  on page 6‑40 formore
information.
ToshiftoutofP(Park)usethefollowing:

Applythebrakepedal.
Presstheshiftleverbutton.
Movetheshiftlevertothedesiredposition.
