onlydesigned toinflate iftheimpactexceedsa
predetermined deployment threshold. Deployment
thresholds areusedtopredicthowsevereacrashis
likelytobeintimefortheairbagstoinflate andhelp
restrain theoccupants.
Ifsomething isbetweenanoccupantandan
airbag,theairbagmightnotinflateproperly orit
mightforcetheobjectintothatpersoncausing
severeinjuryorevendeath.Thepathofan
inflating airbagmustbekeptclear.Donotput
anything betweenanoccupant andanairbag,
anddonotattachorputanything onthesteering
wheelhuboronornearanyotherairbag
covering.
Whetherthefrontalairbagswillorshoulddeployisnot
basedonhowfastyourvehicleistraveling. Itdepends
largelyonwhatyouhit,thedirection oftheimpact,and
howquicklyyourvehicleslowsdown.
Donotuseseataccessories thatblockthe
inflation pathofaseat-mounted sideimpact
airbag.
Neversecureanything totheroofofavehiclewith
roof-rail airbagsbyroutingaropeortiedown
throughanydoororwindowopening. Ifyoudo,
thepathofaninflating roof-rail airbagwillbe
blocked.
