Drivecarefully whenthereissnoworicebetweenthe
tiresandtheroad,creating lesstraction orgrip.Wetice
canoccuratabout0°C(32°F)whenfreezing rain
beginstofall,resulting inevenlesstraction. Avoid
drivingonweticeorinfreezing rainuntilroadscanbe
treatedwithsaltorsand.

improves vehiclestability duringhardstopsona
slippery roads,butapplythebrakessoonerthanwhen
ondrypavement.

gentlysotraction isnotlost.Accelerating tooquickly
causesthewheelstospinandmakesthesurfaceunder
thetiresslick,sothereisevenlesstraction.
Allowgreaterfollowing distanceonanyslippery road
andwatchforslippery spots.Icypatchescanoccuron
otherwise clearroadsinshadedareas.Thesurface
ofacurveoranoverpass canremainicywhenthe
surrounding roadsareclear.Avoidsuddensteering
maneuvers andbrakingwhileonice.
Trynottobreakthefragiletraction. Ifyouaccelerate too
fast,thedrivewheelswillspinandpolishthesurface
underthetiresevenmore.
Turnoffcruisecontrol, ifequipped, onslippery surfaces.
