Forvehicles withthisfeature, besuretoreadthisentire
sectionbeforeusingit.
Thehigh-beam headlamps remainon,underthe
automatic controlofIntelliBeam, untilanyofthe
following situations occur:
IntelliBeam isanenhancement tothevehicle's
headlamp system.Usingadigitallightsensoron
therearviewmirror,thissystemturnsthevehicle's
high-beam headlamps onandoffaccording to
surrounding trafficconditions.

Thesystemdetectsanapproaching vehicle's
headlamps.
Thesystemdetectsapreceding vehicle's
taillamps.
TheIntelliBeam systemturnsthehigh-beam headlamps
onwhenitisdarkenough,thereisnoothertraffic
present, andtheIntelliBeam systemisenabled.
Theoutsidelightisbrightenoughthathigh-beam
headlamps arenotrequired.
TurningOnandEnablingIntelliBeam™
Thevehicle's speeddropsbelow

mph(24km/h).
PressandreleasetheIntelliBeam buttonontheinside
rearviewmirror.TheIntelliBeam indicator onthemirror
turnsontoindicate thesystemison.Oncethesystem
hasbeenturnedon,itremainsoneachtimethevehicle
isstarted, buttheIntelliBeam systemmustbeenabled.
Theheadlamp stalkismovedforwardtothe
high-beam position ortheflash-to-pass featureis
used.SeeHeadlampHigh/Low-Beam Changer on
page 4‑6 andFlash-to-Pass on page 4‑10.
Wheneitheroftheseconditions occur,the
IntelliBeam featureisdisabledandtheIntelliBeam
lightinthemirrorturnsoffuntilthehigh-beam stalk
isreturned totheneutralposition.
ToenabletheIntelliBeam system,turntheexterior lamp
controltoAUTO,withtheturnsignal/multifunction lever
initsneutralposition. TheHigh-Beam OnLightappears
ontheinstrument panelclusterwhenthehigh-beams
areon.SeeHighbeamOnLightonpage4‑60.

IfIntelliBeam wasusinglow-beams priortothis
action,theIntelliBeam featureistemporarily
disabled untilthestalkisreturnedtotheneutral
position.
