installation ofachildrestraint easier.TheLATCH
systemusesanchorsinthevehicleandattachments

LATCHsystem.
Achildinachildrestraint inthecenterfrontseat
canbebadlyinjuredorkilledbythefrontal
airbagsiftheyinflate. Neversecureachild
restraint inthecenterfrontseat.Itisalwaysbetter
tosecureachildrestraint inarearseat.
MakesurethataLATCH-compatiblechildrestraint is
properly installed usingtheanchors, orusethevehicle's
safetybeltstosecuretherestraint, following the
instructions thatcamewiththatrestraint, andalsothe
instructions inthismanual.Wheninstalling achild
restraint withatoptether,youmustalsouseeitherthe
loweranchorsorthesafetybeltstoproperly securethe
childrestraint. Achildrestraint mustneverbeinstalled
usingonlythetoptetherandanchor.
Donotusechildrestraints inthecenterfrontseat
position.
Whensecuring achildrestraint inarearseating
position, studytheinstructions thatcamewithyourchild
restraint tomakesureitiscompatible withthisvehicle.
Wherever achildrestraint isinstalled, besuretosecure
thechildrestraint properly.
Keepinmindthatanunsecured childrestraint can
movearoundinacollision orsuddenstopandinjure
peopleinthevehicle. Besuretoproperly secureany
childrestraint inyourvehicle —evenwhennochild
isinit.
InordertousetheLATCHsysteminyourvehicle, you
needachildrestraint thathasLATCHattachments.
Thechildrestraint manufacturer willprovideyouwith
instructions onhowtousethechildrestraint andits
attachments. Thefollowing explainshowtoattacha
childrestraint withtheseattachments inyourvehicle.
Notallvehicleseatingpositions orchildrestraints have
loweranchorsandattachments ortoptetheranchors
andattachments.
