TheCadillac Professional Vehiclecannottowatrailer.
Thevehiclecantowatrailerifitisequippedwith
thepropertrailertowingequipment. Toidentify the
trailering capacity ofthevehicle, readtheinformation
in“WeightoftheTrailer”thatappearslaterinthis
section. Traileringisdifferent thanjustdrivingthe
vehiclebyitself.Traileringmeanschangesinhandling,
acceleration, braking, durability andfueleconomy.
Successful, safetrailering takescorrectequipment,
andithastobeusedproperly.

Thedrivercanlosecontrolwhenpullingatrailerif
thecorrectequipment isnotusedorthevehicleis
notdrivenproperly.Forexample, ifthetraileris
tooheavy,thebrakesmaynotworkwell—or
evenatall.Thedriverandpassengers could
beseriously injured. Thevehiclemayalsobe
damaged;theresulting repairswouldnotbe
coveredbythevehiclewarranty.Pullatrailer only
ifallthestepsinthissectionhavebeenfollowed.

Thefollowing information hasmanytime-tested,
important trailering tipsandsafetyrules.Manyof
theseareimportant forthesafetyofthedriverand
thepassengers. Sopleasereadthissectioncarefully
beforepullingatrailer.
Load-pulling components suchastheengine,
transmission, axles,wheelassemblies andtiresare
forcedtoworkharderagainstthedragoftheadded
weight.Theengineisrequired tooperateatrelatively
higherspeedsandundergreaterloads,generating
extraheat.Thetraileralsoaddsconsiderably towind
resistance, increasing thepullingrequirements.
