vehicle. Theoriginal equipment tiresinstalled onyour
vehicle, whenitwasnew,weredesigned tomeet
GeneralMotorsTirePerformance Criteria Specification
(TPCSpec)systemrating.Ifyouneedreplacement
tires,GMstrongly recommends thatyougettireswith
thesameTPCSpecrating.Thisway,yourvehiclewill
continue tohavetiresthataredesignedtogivethe
sameperformance andvehiclesafety,duringnormal
use,astheoriginal tires.
Mixingtirescouldcauseyoutolosecontrolof
yourvehiclewhiledriving. Ifyoumixtiresof
different sizes,brands,ortypes(radialand
bias-belted tires), thevehiclemaynothandle
properly,andyoucouldhaveacrash.Usingtires
ofdifferent sizes,brands,ortypesmayalsocause
damagetoyourvehicle. Besuretousethe
correctsize,brand,andtypeoftiresonallwheels.
GM'sexclusive TPCSpecsystemconsiders overa
dozencritical specifications thatimpacttheoverall
performance ofyourvehicle, including brakesystem
performance, rideandhandling, traction control, andtire
pressure monitoring performance. GM'sTPCSpec
numberismoldedontothetire'ssidewall nearthetire
size.Ifthetireshaveanall‐seasontreaddesign,the
TPCSpecnumberwillbefollowed byanMSformud
andsnow.SeeTireSidewall Labeling on page 6‑51 for
additional information.
Yourvehiclemayhaveacompactsparetireand
wheelassembly.Ifthevehiclehasacompact
sparetireandwheel,theyhavethesameoverall
diameterasyourvehicle's full‐sizetiresand
wheels.Becausetheyweredesignedand
developed foruseonyourvehicle, itisallrightto
driveyourvehiclewiththecompactspareinstalled
properly.Compactsparetiresaredesigned for
temporary useonly.SeeSpareTire on
page 6‑95.
GMrecommends replacing tiresinsetsoffour.Thisis
becauseuniformtreaddepthonalltireswillhelpkeep
yourvehicleperforming mostlikeitdidwhenthetires
werenew.Replacing lessthanafullsetoftirescan
affectthebrakingandhandling performance ofyour
