OnStarservicecannotworkunlessthevehicleisina
placewhereOnStarhasanagreement withawireless
serviceprovider forserviceinthatarea.OnStarservice
alsocannotworkunlessthevehicleisinaplacewhere
thewirelessserviceprovider OnStarhashiredforthat
areahascoverage, networkcapacityandreception
whentheserviceisneeded,andtechnology thatis
compatible withtheOnStarservice. Notallservices are
available everywhere, particularly inremoteorenclosed
areas,oratalltimes.
Location information aboutthevehicleisonlyavailable
iftheGPSsatellite signalsareunobstructed and
available.
Thevehiclemusthaveaworkingelectrical system,
including adequate batterypower,fortheOnStar
equipment tooperate. Thereareotherproblems OnStar
cannotcontrolthatmaypreventOnStarfromproviding
OnStarserviceatanyparticular timeorplace.Some
examplesaredamagetoimportant partsofthevehicle
inacrash,hills,tallbuildings, tunnels,weatheror
wireless phonenetworkcongestion.
TheOnStarsystemcanrecordandtransmit vehicle
information. Thisinformation isautomatically senttoan
OnStarcallcenterwhenQispressed,]ispressed,
oriftheairbagsorACRsystemdeploy.
