Achildinarear-facing childrestraint canbe
seriously injuredorkillediftherightfront

backoftherear-facing childrestraint wouldbe
veryclosetotheinflating airbag.Achildina
forward-facing childrestraint canbeseriously
injuredorkillediftherightfrontpassenger airbag
inflatesandthepassenger seatisinaforward
position.
Werecommend thatchildren andchildrestraints be
securedinarearseat,including: aninfantorachild
ridinginarear-facing childrestraint; achildridingin
aforward-facing childseat;anolderchildridingina
boosterseat;andchildren, whoarelargeenough,using
safetybelts.
Alabelonyoursunvisorsays,“Neverputarear-facing
childseatinthefront.”Thisisbecausetherisktothe
rear-facing childissogreat,iftheairbagdeploys.
Evenifthepassenger sensingsystemhasturned
offtherightfrontpassenger frontalairbag,no
systemisfail-safe. Noonecanguarantee that
anairbagwillnotdeployundersomeunusual
circumstance, eventhoughitisturnedoff.
Securerear-facing childrestraints inarear
seat,eveniftheairbagisoff.Ifyousecurea
forward-facing childrestraint intherightfrontseat,
alwaysmovethefrontpassenger seatasfarback
asitwillgo.Itisbettertosecurethechildrestraint
inarearseat.
