Ifthebatterycontinues todischarge, evenwiththe
engineidlingatahigherrpmsetting, someelectrical
loadswillautomatically bereduced. Whenthisoccurs,
therearwindowdefogger maytakeslightly longerto
cleartheglass,theheatedseatsmaynotgetaswarm
astheyusuallydoandtheclimatecontrolfanmay
cutbacktoalowerspeed.Formorebatterysaving

Forvehicles withfootwell lamps,theyarelocatedunder
theinstrument panelandattherearofthefrontseats.
Theselampsprovidesoftlighttothefrontandrearfloor
areas.Theydimwiththeinstrument panelclusterlights.
Footwell lighting brightness canbeadjusted withthe
instrument panelbrightness controllocatedbelowthe
exterior lampscontrol. SeeInstrument PanelBrightness
on page 4‑30.Thefootwell lightswillturnoffbefore
theinstrument panellightsareattheirlowestlevelof
brightness.
ElectricPowerManagement
ThevehiclehasElectric PowerManagement (EPM)that
estimates thebattery's temperature andstateofcharge.
Itthenadjuststhevoltageforbestperformance and
extended lifeofthebattery.
BatteryLoadManagement
Thisfeaturemonitorsthevehicle's electrical loadand
determines whenthebattery isinaheavydischarge
condition. Duringtimesofhighelectrical loading, the
enginemayidleatahigherrevolutionsperminute(rpm)
settingthannormaltomakesurethebatterycharges.
Highelectrical loadsmayoccurwhenseveralofthe
following areon:headlamps, highbeams,foglamps,
rearwindowdefogger,theclimatecontrolfanathigh
speeds,heatedseatsandenginecoolingfans.
Whenthebattery's stateofchargeislow,thevoltage
israisedslightly toquicklybringthechargebackup.
Whenthestateofchargeishigh,thevoltageislowered
slightly topreventovercharging. Ifthevehiclehasa
voltmeter gaugeoravoltagedisplayontheDriver
Information Center(DIC),youmayseethevoltage
moveupordown.Thisisnormal.Ifthereisaproblem,
analertwillbedisplayed.
