Getthevehicles  closeenoughsothejumper
cablescanreach,butbesurethevehicles    arenot
touching eachother.Iftheyare,itcouldcausea
groundconnection youdonotwant.Youwouldnot
beabletostartyourvehicleandthebadgrounding
coulddamagetheelectrical  systems.
Toavoidthepossibility  ofthevehicles  rolling, set
theparkingbrakefirmlyonbothvehicles    involved
inthejumpstartprocedure.   Putanautomatic
transmission inP(Park)oramanualtransmission
inNEUTRALbeforesettingtheparkingbrake.
Notice: Ifyouleavetheradioorotheraccessories
onduringthejumpstarting   procedure, theycould
bedamaged. Therepairswouldnotbecoveredby
thewarranty.Alwaysturnofftheradioandother
accessories whenjumpstarting thevehicle.

Theremotepositive(+)terminal   islocatedinthe
enginecompartment onthepassenger's  sideof
thevehicle. Lifttheredplastic  captoaccessthe
terminal. SeeEngineCompartment Overview on
page 614 formoreinformation onthelocation  of
theremotepositive(+)terminal.

Turnofftheignition  onbothvehicles.  Unplug
unnecessary accessories pluggedintothe
cigarette lighterortheaccessory  poweroutlets.
Turnofftheradioandalllampsthatarenot
needed.Thiswillavoidsparksandhelpsave
bothbatteries. Anditcouldsavetheradio!
Asecondremotepositive(+)terminal   islocatedon
therearunderseat  fuseblock.
Theremotenegative()terminal   islocatedbehind
thepowersteeringpulley,neartheenginecover.
ItismarkedGND().

Openthehoodsandlocatethepositive(+)and
negative()terminal locations ontheothervehicle.
Yourvehiclehasaremotepositive(+)jumpstarting
terminal andaremotenegative()jumpstarting
terminal.
