Understan ding the Position s of the Ign ition
Your vehicle may have one of the follow ing lock
cylind ers depend ing on when it was bu ilt:
The ign ition lock cylin ders
LOCK locks the steering wheel when the key is
rem oved . It also locks the console-m ou nted
gearshift on vehicles with au tom atic transaxles.
To tu rn the key to this position on an au tom atic
transaxle vehicle, the shift control lever must be
in P (Park).
RWARN ING
LOCK position does not lock the gearsh ift
on floor-m ounted manual tran saxle
gearsh ifts. If the park ing brak e is not set
and the gearsh ift is moved out of gear,
you r veh icle may move unexpected ly and
injure som eon e.
