With you r other hand , grasp the tip (metal
portion) of the tongu e (not the cover) and
slid e the tongu e up the webbing as far as it
will go. See Figu re 1. Release the tongu e, bu t
do not let go of the lap belt webbing.
While hold ing the lap belt webbing in one
hand , use you r other hand to pinch the tip
(metal portion) of the tongu e and belt
webbing together and again pull out as
much of the belt as possible. Then, let go of
the lap belt webbing.

Rou te the tongu e and webbing throu gh the
child seat accord ing to the child seat
manu factu rer’s instru ctions. See Figu re 2. Be
sure that the belt webbing is not tw isted . If
so, rem ove the tw ist. (For instru ctions on
how to rem ove a tw ist, see the Procedure to
Correct a Rotated Tongue on the Safety Belt
section in this chap ter.)
