How to Untwist or Unjam a Safety Belt
Retractor
If you shou ld jam the lap belt retractor by
allow ing the belt to retract when it is tw isted ,
you can free the webbing with this proced ure.
1.
Pu ll on the belt with both hand s to tighten it
on the retractor spool.

Feed the belt back into the retractor until it
is com pletely retracted . Repeat previou s step
if necessary.

Pu ll the belt out of its hold er as far as it will
go and untw ist the belt or rem ove the object
that is jamming the belt. Let the belt retract.
Then, pull the belt ou t and let it retract
several tim es to make sure that the belt
works prop erly.
