Check from tim e to tim e to be sure that
there is no slack in the lap / shou lder belt.
The shou lder belt must be snu g to keep the
lap belt tight during a collision.
Installin g a Child Safety Seat at the Rear
Cen ter Seatin g Position (For all veh icles)

Lengthen the lap belt. To lengthen the belt,
hold the belt tongu e at a right angle to the
belt webbing. Slide the tongu e up the
webbing.

Place the child safety seat in the center
seating position.
Rou te the tongu e and webbing throu gh the
child seat accord ing to the child seat
manu factu rer’s instru ctions.

Insert the belt tongu e into the prop er bu ckle
for the center seating position until you hear
a snap and feel it latch. Make sure the
tongu e is secu rely fastened to the bu ckle.

Push dow n on the child seat while pulling
on the loose end of the lap belt webbing to
tighten the belt.
Forcibly tilt the child seat from sid e to sid e
and tu g the seat forw ard to ensu re that the
seat is held secu rely in place. If the child
seat moves excessively, rep eat step s 5
throu gh 6 or prop erly install the child seat
in a different seating position.
