Rem ovin g the Key From the Ign ition
Proced ures for rem oving you r key from the
ignition vary, depend ing on whether you r
vehicle has an au tom atic or manu al transaxle.
If you r vehicle has an au tom atic transaxle:

Pu t the gearshift lever in P (Park).
Set the parking brake fully.
Turn the ignition key to LOCK.
Remove the key.
If you r vehicle has a manu al transaxle:

Pu t the gearshift lever in 1 (First).
Set the parking brake fully.
Turn the ignition key cou nterclockw ise to
ACC. Pu sh the key in while tu rning to
LOCK.
4.
Remove the key.
If the key is stu ck in the LOCK position, move
the steering wheel left or right until the key
tu rns freely.
RWARN ING
Alw ays set the park ing brak e fully and
make sure that the gearsh ift is secu rely
latch ed in P (Park ) (autom atic tran saxle) or
in 1 (First) (manual tran saxle).
