Safety Belt Warn ing Ligh t/Ch ime (U.S.
veh icles equipped with motorized passive
restrain t)
The safety belt warning light/ chim e rem ind s you
to fasten you r safety belt. One of the follow ing
will take place:

If the lap belt is not bu ckled when the key is
tu rned to the ON position, the light will
com e on for one to tw o minu tes and the
chim e will sou nd for four to eight second s.

If the lap belt is bu ckled while the light is on
and the chim e is sou nd ing, both the light and
chim e will turn off.
❑
If the lap belt is bu ckled before the key is
tu rned to the ON position, neither the light
nor chim e will activate.
If the warning light rem ains illuminated for
more than one minu te, check to be sure that
both shou lder belts are latched to the emergency
release bu ckle. If the warning light rem ains
illuminated with both front seat shou lder belts
latched to the emergency release bu ckles, refer to
the section titled What to Do If Your Shoulder Belt
Does Not Engage Properly before driving the
vehicle.
