If you r vehicle does not have anti-lock brakes,
extrem e braking can make the wheels lock and
slid e, cau sing you to lose control of the steering.
If the wheels lock, release the brake pedal and
rep eat the ”squ eeze“ techniqu e.
Do not drive with you r foot resting on the brake
pedal; you will wear out the linings and increase
you r vehicle’s stop ping distance. Brake rotor
dam age may also eventu ally occur.
RWARN ING
If you are drivin g down a lon g or steep
hill, shift to a low er gear. Do not apply
you r brak es contin uously, as they may
overh eat and becom e less effective.
Occasional brake squ eal during light to mod erate
stop s does not affect the function of the brake
system and is norm al. How ever, if the squ eal
becom es annoyingly lou d or increases
significantly in frequ ency of occurrence, retu rn
the vehicle to you r dealer for insp ection.
The high-m ount brakelam p will light when you
ap ply the brakes.
Anti-lock Brak e System
(If equipped)
Your vehicle may com e with the optional
anti-lock brake system . Whenever you r wheels
start to lock (which could resu lt in a skid ) the
anti-lock brake system prevents the lock-u p by
au tom atically releasing and re-ap plying the
brakes. The brake pedal will pulsate as a resu lt
of the au tom atic releasing and re-ap plying of the
brakes. In spite of this improvem ent in braking
perform ance, you shou ld continu e to be cau tiou s
in all hazard ous driving situ ations, esp ecially
when driving on hazard ous road surfaces. Even
