Drivin g Under Special Con dition s
Tip s for Safe Drivin g
As with any new vehicle, you rs may drive and
hand le differently from you r previou s vehicle.
Use care until you becom e accu stom ed to its
variou s featu res and driving characteristics.
Op erate you r vehicle within reasonable limits.
Sudden acceleration, deceleration, tu rning, or
combinations of these maneu vers can cau se a
vehicle to behave differently than anticip ated .
❑
Extrem e acceleration can cau se the front
wheels to spin, perhap s resu lting in red uced
steering control.
❑
If you do not have anti-lock brakes, extrem e
braking can cau se wheels to lock and slid e,
making it difficult to control the direction of
the vehicle. Use the ”squ eeze“ techniqu e by
pushing on the brake pedal with stead ily
increasing force. This allow s the wheels to
brake yet continu e to roll so that you may
steer in the direction you want to travel. If
you lock the wheels, release the brake pedal
and rep eat the squ eeze techniqu e.
❑
If you abru ptly release the accelerator or
brake hard while going too fast arou nd a
severe curve, you r vehicle may change
direction. Avoid ap plication of the brakes, if
possible. If braking is necessary, it shou ld be
done by using the ”squ eeze“ techniqu e
described above.
