Aut oma tic locking mode
In this operating mod e, the lap belt retractor will
rem ain locked and does not allow the occupant
freed om of movem ent. This mod e provid es the
follow ing:
❑A tight lap belt on the hip s.
❑Forw ard -facing child seat installation.
RWARN ING
Rear-facin g infan t seats should never be
placed in the fron t seat.
This mod e must be used when installing a
forw ard -facing child seat on the front passenger
seat. To switch the retractor from the emergency
locking mod e, perform the follow ing step s:

Buckle the lap belt.
Grasp the lap belt below the child seat label.
Pu ll upward until all of the belt is extracted
and a click is heard . At this tim e, the lap
belt retractor is in the au tom atic locking
mod e (child restraint mod e).

A clicking sou nd will contnu e to be heard as
the belt is allow ed to retract.
Pu ll dow n on the belt to rem ove slack in the
belt.
NOTE: When the lap belt is unbuckled and
allow ed to retract completely, the
retractor will switch to the veh icle
sen sitive (emergen cy) lock ing mode.
