Changin g a Tire
If you get a flat tire while you are driving, do
not ap ply the brake heavily. Instead , grad ually
decrease the speed . Hold the steering wheel
firm ly and slow ly move to a safe place on the
sid e of the road . Park on a level spot, tu rn off
the ignition, set the parking brake, and tu rn on
the hazard flashers.
The Tem porary Spare Tire
You may have a high pressu re tem porary spare
tire. This spare tire is smaller than a regu lar tire
and is designed for emergency use only. Use it
only when you get a flat tire and rep lace it as
soon as you can. This spare tire is marked with
the word s “TEMPORARY USE ON LY” so that
you can easily identify it.

If you use the tem porary spare tire
contin uously or do not follow these
precau tion s, the tire could fail, causin g
you to lose control of the veh icle, possib ly
injurin g you rself or oth ers.
When you drive with the tem porary spare tire,
DO NOT:

exceed 50 mph (80 km / h) und er any
circu mstances.
❑
load you r vehicle so that it is heavier than
the maxim um vehicle load rating listed on
the tire decal.
❑use tire chains on this tire.
