Safety Restrain ts for Child ren
In the U.S. and Canad a, you are requ ired by law
to use safety restraints for child ren. If small
child ren rid e in you r vehicle — this generally
inclu des child ren who are four years old or
you nger and who weigh 40 pound s (18 kg) or
less — you must put them in safety seats that
are mad e specially for child ren. Safety belts
alone do not provid e maxim um protection for
these child ren. Check you r local and state law s
for specific requ irem ents.
RWARN ING
Never let a passen ger hold a child on his
or her lap while the veh icle is movin g.
The passen ger cannot protect the child
from injury in a collision .

To preven t the risk of injury, make sure
child ren sit where they can be prop erly
restrain ed.
