Your vehicle has a special shift-lock safety
featu re which prevents you from shifting out of
P (Park) withou t the brake pedal depressed . To
shift the transaxle ou t of the P (Park) position,
the ignition must be in the ON position, the
battery must be supplying electrical pow er, and
you r foot must be pressing on the brake pedal.
In the unlikely event that you cannot move the
selector lever from the P (Park) position with the
brake pedal depressed , continu e depressing the
brake. Then:
1.
Remove the shift-lock overrid e cap with a 1“
or longer screw driver.
Shift-lock overrid e
2.
Insert the screw driver into the shift-lock
overrid e opening and push the screw driver
hand le dow n.
