The engine must be warm ed up and at
operating tem peratu re before proceed ing with
the drive mod es of the follow ing OBD II Drive
Cycle.

Start the engine. Drive the vehicle or idle in
neu tral for 4 minu tes.
Idle the vehicle in D (drive) (neu tral for
manu al transaxles) for 40 second s.
Accelerate the vehicle to 35 mph (55 km / h)
(manu al transaxles upshift from 1st to 3rd
gear) at 1/ 2 to 3/ 4 throttle for 10 second s.

Drive the vehicle with a stead y throttle at
35
mph (55 km / h) (manu al transaxles use
3rd gear) for 30 second s.

Idle the vehicle in D (drive) (neu tral for
manu al transaxles) for 40 second s.
Continu e to drive the vehicle in city traffic at
speed s betw een 25 and 40 mph
(40-64
km / h) (manu al transaxles prim arily
use 3rd and 4th gear when possible) for 15
minu tes. Du ring the 15 minu te drive cycle
the follow ing mod es must be achieved :
a. at least 5 stop and idle mod es at 10
second s each
b. acceleration from idles at 1/ 2 to 3/ 4
throttle position, and
c. choose 3 different speed s to do 1.5
minu te stead y state throttle drives.

Accelerate the vehicle up to betw een 45 and
60
mph (72-97 km / h) (manu al transaxles
upshift to 5th gear). This shou ld take
ap proxim ately 5 minu tes.
