UNDERSTANDING THE FEATURES OF YOUR VEHICLE
Automatic Headlights — If Equipped
AUTO position. In addition, the head lights will turn OFF
when the wipers are turned off if they were turned on by
this featu re.
This system autom atically turns the head lights ON or
OFF accord ing to ambient light levels. To turn the system
ON, turn the end of the Multi-Function Control Lever to
the (A) AUTO position (third detent). When the system is
ON, the Head light Time Delay featu re is also ON. This
means the head lights will stay ON for up to 90 second s
after you turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
To turn the Autom atic System OFF, turn the end of the
Multi-Function Control Lever out of the (A) position.
The Head lights with Wipers featu re can be turned on or
off throu gh the Electronic Vehicle Inform ation Center
(EVIC) — if equ ipped. For details, refer to ”Head lights
On with Wipers,” und er “Personal Settings (Custom er
Program mable Featu res),” und er “Electronic Vehicle In-
form ation Center” in Section 4 of this manu al.
Headlight Time Delay — If Equipped
NOTE: The engine must be running before the head -
lights will turn ON in the Autom atic mode.
This featu re is particu larly useful when exiting you r
vehicle in an unlit area. It provid es the safety of head light
illumination for abou t 90 second s after turning the igni-
tion switch to the LOCK position.
Headlights with Wipers (Available with Auto
Headlights Only)
When this featu re is active, the head lights will turn ON
approxim ately 10 second s after the wipers are turned on
if the Multi-Function Control Lever is placed in the (A)
To activate the delay, turn the ignition switch to the
LOCK position while the head lights are still on. Then,
turn off the head lights within 45 second s. The delay
